About The Service
The health protection support team (formerly Test, Trace and Protect) is a service that was created to help with the global pandemic that arose in 2020 due to Covid 19. The service has expanded since then and now deals with several communicable diseases and wider health protection support work. The service is hosted by Cardiff Council on behalf of Welsh Government with funding confirmed up until March 2024.
About the job
This post will be instrumental in the management of the wider health protection work allocated, the monitoring and surveillance of Covid 19 and other communicable diseases. You will be work closely with various partner organisations such as Welsh Government, Public Health Wales and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective running of the service. The post holder will take a lead role in the management of the service, being responsible for all actions required and requested by Welsh Government, Cardiff & Vale university Health Board, and Public Health Wales. The successful candidate will develop and implement key strategies and the promotion of the service, outsourcing for different work streams when needed. Ability to work from home remotely – requires strong and reliable broadband. You will be required to attend an office for training/meeting purposes as and when required, a minimum of once a month. You may also be required to work from a nominated office within stakeholder organisations. Shifts are based on a rota and may vary according to service needs. Service operational hours are 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week including bank holidays. (Currently the service operates from 9am to 5pm)
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking to recruit an individual that have proven experience with health protection policy implementation and an understanding of a wide range on communicable diseases. We're looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable and can work comfortably with uncertainty and a rapidly changing environment with a wide range of people in many different roles and organisations. You will be great at building relationships and trust and be seen as a safe pair of hands to get things done. You will be organised and focused and able to juggle a lot of demands at once to enable services to achieve the best outcomes for people. You'll be at home with spread sheets, reports and presentations and must have proven experience in using customer relationship management (CRM) and staff performance management tools. Candidates should have experience of working with and managing external stakeholder relationships.
