The Direct-to-Consumer team creates print and digital products for UK learners, meeting them at their point of need outside the classroom, with best-in-class learning experiences for Primary Home Learning and Secondary Revision.

This role is for a Full-Stack Developer, with a few years’ experience working in a product/web development environment. You will work in a cross-functional team on Pearson Revise Onlineand The Maths Factor.You will be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining high-quality web applications as well as supporting the Product Development Lead with managing a third-party scrum team which will involve junior product owner responsibilities (technical backlog management and writing and briefing technical requirements).

Key Accountabilities:
- Back-end: You will have the opportunity to develop new features for the web apps and implement back-end functionality that will reach and enrich millions of people's lives. You will be able to see the impact of your work almost immediately and know that you are making a difference in the world. The technology used: NodeJS, MongoDB, Typescript, benefit is also familiar with Microsoft SQL Server, C#, .NET.
- Front-end: You will collaborate efficiently with the web development and design team. You will be responsible for implementing, adapting, and deploying design templates. This work will require a good understanding of both design and development, as well as a willingness to work closely with others on a team. The technology used: React and good understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSS foundations.
- Ownership: You will work with the team to choose the best technical solutions, perform DB migrations when needed, test and bug fix. This will ensure that the web applications are of the highest quality and meet the needs of the users.
- Complexity: You will need to keep scalability in mind for everything you do while working on this project. Any new feature you add must have a back-end and database architecture that can support many users and front-end performance for delivery.

- Features backlog: Working with Product lead to manage and prioritise the technical backlog for the third-party scrum team including translating portfolio product strategies and epics into user stories and tasks and acceptance criteria for development and answering supporting third-party dev queries about them
- Quality assurance: Carry out code check reviews on third-party code to ensure quality and sign off features and functionality during product development
- Learning the market and customer needs in order to make data-driven product decisions for customer personas that will drive product success
- Supporting the product development lead to arranging and prioritise sprints during product development and evaluate progress at each stage
- Other technology tools used: Postman, Agile Jira, Adobe XD, Figma, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics
Role-specific experience and attributes
- Experience as a Full-stack Developer in an Agile environment and we will consider recent graduates or people looking for their first developer role
- An excellent track record of success in providing solutions for complex technical requirements in both back-end and front-end development
- Proficiency in NodeJS, MongoDB, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML Semantic, CSS, W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG)
- Desirable to be proficient in ASP.NET C#, Microsoft SQL Server and AWS
- Ambition and drive for quality and results
- A good eye for detail and interest in technology and UX design principles for a great user experience
