North Glasgow Biochemistry are seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team. The department has a number of highly specialised areas including the Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (STEMDRL). The total workload amounts to >10 million analyses of >180 different tests, making the department one of the largest in the UK.

The successful applicant will join a friendly team of Specialist Biomedical Scientists & support staff and will be responsible providing training and direct supervision to trainees within the department. Candidates therefore should have extensive experience of mentoring both IBMS state registration and specialist portfolios. The department covers a range of specialist areas and candidates would be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of discipline specific procedures (e.g. Automated Core section, Specialist Biochemistry, GCMS, Vitamins and Trace Elements).

Potential candidates must have as a minimum:
  • HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
  • Possession of a relevant Master of Science degree or equivalent.
  • Skills relevant to the roll of a senior BMS.
