AJ Connect has partnered with one of the fastest growing robotics start-ups, which is looking for a full-time Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join their rapidly growing team at their offices based in the West End of Glasgow. The start-up has won most of the biggest competitions in Scotland and has raised over £1.6m in funding from private investors and public funds.
You will be working on software systems to run directly on the robotics platform as well as the software infrastructure to support the running of that robot. This will include discussions with stakeholders to define software requirements, planning projects to deliver proposed software solutions and then executing these projects.
The company develops a robotic lawn mower for large terrains. The developed product, empowered by a patented mapping and positioning technology, is able to cover vastly larger areas than currently possible, ensures the highest level of safety and cutting quality and requires minimal installation. The company mostly targets business clients, such as golf clubs, Universities, and city councils.

This role will run in parallel to the other senior engineer roles and you will report directly to the CEO and CTO. You will be working with other software-based disciplines, as well as mechanical and electronics engineers. If you are motivated, driven and looking for a place to grow, this is the job for you.
Who you are
- You have a master's degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or similar STEM fie
- You are experienced in mobile robotic systems software
- You have a minimum 5 years of C/C++/Python development experience
- You have worked with computer vision, object classification, scene semantics and segmentation
- You are fluent in the application of ROS and use of Gazebo and Rvi
- You apply diligent version control using GitHub/ GitLab or similar
- You have experience with Unix development and systems administration
- You have excellent communication skills
- You are flexible outlook and proactive mindset
- You are self-motivated and able to prioritise own workload in order to meet company objectives on time and to a high standard
What we would like
- You have taken multiple products through from initial development to support post deployment
- You have start-up experience
- You have experience in mobile robotic systems hardware architecture design
- You have worked with embedded systems
- You are fluent with SPI interface - I2c - UART - CAN-Bus protocols.
- You have experience with Dynamic System analysis, linear and non-linear control theory and nonlinear state estimation, nonlinear optimization
