Job description
St Mark’s Hospital is the center of Excellence for the management of Gastrointestinal and Colorectal disorders. Frederick Salmon North ward manages both medical and surgical patients and works in collaboration with the St Mark’s MDT team to ensure patients receive optimum care. We are a Center of excellence and a Tertiary Referral Center providing care to National and international patients requiring specialist care. Our approach to delivering excellent care and ensuring a good patient experience is supported by research, ward base teaching and patient/family feedback.
Frederick Salmon North is a 21 bedded ward which looks after patients with complex colorectal surgery. We care primarily for surgical speciality with the occasional medical speciality. The team is well supported by the ward manager and ward sisters within a lovely nursing team. The ward is further supported by Specialist Nurse Practitioners and other members of the MDT who are also always readily available on the ward to support the nursing team.

You will be expected to use your own initiative and experience in ensuring patient’s safety, confidentiality and dignity is maintained at all times through a holistic approach. You will be required to deliver direct care to patients and to assist nursing staff and other members of the MDT when required.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of an NVQ 2 in care or relevant care certificate and experience in working in a care setting or Hospital setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to liaise with staff, patients, relatives and other medical and non-medical staff at all times. IT skills are desirable although not mandatory but will be of own benefit for learning and development purposes.
This is a full time position 37.5 hour per week
Your will be required to work a combination of days, nights and weekends to ensure a 24/7 care service delivery.
