The Role: Senior Relevance Engineer, Search
S&P Global is seeking a Senior Relevance Engineer to support the building and continuous improvement of search capabilities in the Market Intelligence Desktop platform. Our ideal candidate will possess:
Masterful understanding of Search and Relevance improvement.
Strong product thinking, an inquisitive nature, and strong desire to “always be testing”
Strong statistics and data analysis skills
An understanding of financial data.

The Location: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, London, and Poland
The Impact: The position plays a key role on the S&P Global Market Intelligence Platforms Search team and for the organization as a whole. The Senior Relevance Engineer role offers exposure to all groups and opens doors for tremendous career opportunities with S&P Global. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing and testing opportunities for improvement of relevant Search results. As a member of the Product Management team you will work alongside partners in Data Science, Software Engineering, and Product Management. You will also be responsible for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to ensure what we build drives real client value.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Iteratively measure the Search quality of our Search ecosystem against business metrics
Engage in hypothesis-driven relevance tuning of Search algorithms and Natural Language Processing (NLP) models
Use analytics and clicks to understand user behavior and Search quality
Conduct user studies for Search quality
Participate in a cross-functional product squad focused on the evolution of Search
Establish strong and collaborative relationships with business partners to help identify opportunities to improve Search
identify opportunities to automate tasks, leverage technology, and reduce failure points
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Five years' experience in Search as a Relevancy Engineer, Search Developer, or Search Architect
You understand Search algorithms, evaluation metrics, and tuning
Experience in hypothesis testing and running A/B and multivariate tests
You have experience with technologies such as Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch, etc
You have conducted user studies gathering judgements for Search results
You have a strong grasp of agile methodologies and have experience refining your way of working through retrospectives and review of product KPIs
You are creative and can think outside of the box to find innovative solutions
You are a collaborator and can build strong relationships to bring others along in your journey
You are a passionate team member who is excited by challenges and actively participates in ideation
You take ownership of results and track critical metrics and use them to drive decision-making about what’s next
Compensation/Benefits Information:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
