The sale of coloured paints is of strategic importance here at Crown Paints in our daring growth plans. Coloured paints are manufactured in our factories or tinted at the point of sale. Delivery of this is supported by colour recipes which are generated in our tinting laboratory in Darwen. Here you will join the colour team to play a key role in providing the best service to our internal customers.

You'll have a thirst for knowledge and stay up to date with the latest technology in the field of Colour and Tinting so that Crown Paints remains a high focus in a dynamic market. Supporting lots of exciting developments you'll be involved in product and colour launches, being a trusted partner on providing advise and solutions.
Here are some of the other things you can look forward to:
- Practical work such as colour recipe development, ensuring that colour ranges meet market needs
- Preparing and maintaining colour collections, libraries and databases for point-of-sale and in-factory tinting, including the supply of recipe data for tinting software updates
- Interpreting measured colour data to assist in decision making regarding the limitations to performance of tinted products with respect to properties such as hiding, light fastness and closeness to the standard
- Answering technical colour enquiries regarding point-of-sale tinting systems
- Generating and supplying custom colour matches on demand, presenting any limitations or solutions
The colour laboratory is relied upon for an accurate, credible and timely service to colleagues and partners, and we work together as a team of 6 to provide excellent service. In this role you can really showcase your top-class customer orientation and results driven approach. What will I need to be successful?
Using your degree, ideally in a scientific subject area, you'll use your colour-based experience to really make a difference.
Your technical knowledge of colour physics, colour mixing and colour management, numerical specification of colour and the assessment of colour difference will empower you to be a specialist in our R&D team.
Your communication and presentation skills will help colleagues understand any limitations of tinted products and also offer potential solutions and guidance.
Excel with come naturally to you and you'll deal comfortably with large databases and spreadsheets encountered in point-of-sale tinting. If you have programming experience and familiarity with SQL then this would also be helpful.
Most importantly, your eye for colour will be your superpower, as will your attention to detail so you can mix your recipes with accuracy and efficiency.
