This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and implement public affairs strategies to support the delivery of our ambitious marine strategy to help enable the UK’s transition to a greener energy system, and help shape our business strategy in response to the ever changing external political and policy energy landscape.
This role will be responsible for sharing insighty to help highlight risks and opportunities and shape our strategy and major projects such as offshore wind leasing. The role holder will lead the policy work for the external affairs team with Marine, gathering a detailed understanding of the emerging policy landscape and be able to identify and communicate the strategic implications of these changes with the Marine and wider TCE leadership teams.
Main Accountabilities:
- Lead and implement public affairs strategies to support the delivery of the
Marine strategy and marine major projects
- Lead policy work for external affairs marine team, gathering a detailed
understanding of the emerging policy landscape and identify &
communicate the strategic implications
- Gather insight and understanding of political and policy landscape to shape
business strategy and decisions, identifying risks and opportunities
- Supports engagement with key government departments to help shape and
enable the UK’s energy transition and achievement of net zero targets
- Support the formation of policy position and consultation responses,
working with colleagues across marine, strategy and External Affairs and
Policy team.
- Builds relationships with key external stakeholders to support the business’s
objectives and in turn, how our purpose and strategy help stakeholders’ to
achieve their goals
- Provides political insights and wider thought leadership and guidance to the
Marine team and wider TCE on how to influence policy development and
implementation of government policy.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
- Substantial experience working in a public affairs, political or relevant civil
service role
- Substantial experience working in energy or infrastructure sectors
- Experience managing external agency accounts
- Good knowledge of the workings UK Government and devolved nations
decision making
- Good knowledge of political landscape and energy policy landscape
- Ability to communicate and influence providing strategic advice to senior
leaders
- Ability to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and work collaboratively in a fast paced
project environment
- Experience/ability to work within a matrixed organisation
