Job description
As a Project Planner in the Government Project Delivery Profession, you will sit at the heart of the project/programme and play a pivotal role in ensuring outcomes can be achieved. You will do this by embedding and maintaining planning frameworks. As well as providing senior leadership with advice to enable forward looking strategic delivery decisions.
The role is an exciting opportunity where you will play a key role in supporting the programme to provide Accommodation Centres (ACs) to house and support destitute individuals who have arrived in the UK via unauthorised routes to claim asylum whilst the Home Office assesses their claims.
You will be responsible for the application of planning standards through all levels of plans and schedules and provide assurance that plans are robust and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities will include :
- Leading the planning team and work with the project manager to deliver the business case benefits and outcomes.
- Applying advanced knowledge in the discipline of planning for the analysis and successful resolution of risks and issues and identification of opportunities.
- Identifying future capacity and capability needs of the project planning function.
- Building and maintaining external networks to access technical and professional best practice.
- Analysing performance data, looking at trends to identify areas for improvement.
Our ideal person will;
- Have significant experience in planning complex projects within agreed time. You will have achieved this using your expert knowledge of project planning tools and methodologies.
- Be experienced and credible in dealing with a broad and complex range of stakeholders, with the confidence to engage with senior officials and ministers.
- Be an experienced people manager, able to build and develop a high performing and motivated project team.
- Experienced in the application of a structured approach to planning across programmes and portfolios and will act as an advocate of excellence in Project planning.
- Have significant experience in integration of multiple levels of plans and dependencies and are accountable for all aspects of the project planning framework.
- Experienced at Microsoft Projects / MSPO.
