Job description
The West of England Academic Health Science Network has received a new five year funding license from NHS England and we are building a programme team to support clinical colleagues and external innovators to identify opportunities for the discovery, development and deployment of exciting new health and care solutions, that will support our drive to improve population health through reduced inequalities, across our geography.
We have a range of permanent, secondment and fixed term contract opportunities to lead and support the delivery of a new work programme, as we extend our role at the forefront of innovation in the NHS.
Successful candidates will each be responsible for leading one or more complex, high-profile projects, spanning the innovation spiral, overseeing all aspects of project delivery.
Additionally, there will be opportunities to work with senior colleagues within local health and care organisations to facilitate defining specific problems, and identify viable solutions, either through horizon scanning for proven alternatives to adopt, or supporting the design and development of bespoke solutions through work with external innovators.
This is a truly exciting time to be working at the West of England AHSN, so if you enjoy collaborative working in a dynamic and vibrant team leading the acceleration of innovative working across health and care services, then one of these new roles maybe ideal for you!

The West of England AHSN is one of 15 AHSNs across England, established by NHS England to spread proven health innovation at pace and scale. We connect and collaborate with our local NHS and care organisations and universities, and with industry partners, the third sector, and researchers to support transformation across whole health and social care systems, with a clear focus on improving outcomes for citizens. We are an NHS organisation and employment with our AHSN is through the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.
With headquarters in Bristol, we support agile working including the opportunity to work from home, and welcome applications from applicants seeking remote working opportunities. You will need to be able to travel to one of our office bases or occasionally to other locations within our geography and nationally for in-person meetings and events.
We value a workforce where people’s varied backgrounds and experiences bring different perspectives and fresh ideas resulting in the development and spread of transformational innovations. We therefore welcome applications from diverse communities to ensure our team is dynamic, vibrant and reflects the populations we serve.
