Senior PR and Media Relations Manager – Permanent – UK wide
Associate Director, reports to UK Head of PR and Media Relations

As a Senior Manager in the PR and Media Relations team, you will play a leading role in helping to achieve this objective by driving the development of proactive PR campaigns that enhance and protect EY’s reputation in the media and with key external stakeholders.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior Partners in the UK, including members of EY’s leadership team, working collaboratively with colleagues from across Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) to build campaigns that support the firm’s strategy.
This role will report directly to the UK Head of PR and Media Relations and will be responsible for managing and coaching other members of the team.
The anticipated portfolio for this role will include responsibility for Sustainability and Technology and Transformation. Portfolios in the team may rotate periodically, in discussion with the Head of Public Relations and Media Relations.
Your key responsibilities:
- Lead the PR and media relations strategy around key narratives that support the firm’s BMC Strategy and defined areas of EY’s UK business.
- Work collaboratively with BMC colleagues to develop compelling campaigns that reach a broad range of stakeholders, maximising the PR and external affairs opportunities by using a full range of PR and external comms tactics.
- Develop strong relationships with key senior EY stakeholders, including members of the UK leadership team, to provide senior counsel and advice on communications strategy, issues and reputation management.
- Work closely with the UK Head of PR and Media Relations on corporate and reputational issues, as required.
- Coach, manage and develop other members of the PR and media relations team, to build an inclusive and high performing communications function.
- Build and maintain effective journalist relationships to support EY’s BMC strategy and manage risks.
- Portfolios in the team may rotate periodically, in discussion with the UK Head of Public Relations and Media Relations.
Skills and attributes for success:
- Experience of working with and influencing senior executives / leadership, including on reputational issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Self-motivated, proactive and ambitious for the team and the brand
- The ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks at one time
To qualify for the role you must have:
- Proven experience of creating and executing external communications strategies that support business objectives
- Experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders, providing counsel and advice, to build integrated communications and marketing campaigns
- Experience in issues and crisis management
- The intellectual rigour and creativity to make complex and sometimes technical subject matter compelling and newsworthy for press and other external stakeholders
- A deep understanding of PR and media relations strategies, including social media.
- Proven ability of forming strong and effective working relationships with journalists and other external influencers
- Strong journalist relationships in the national business press
- Team and people management skills – a strong team player and lateral thinker, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually and independently
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Significant experience of media relations and corporate communications for large and complex organisations
- Experience of public affairs and stakeholder management as part of wider communications campaigns
