The Quality Systems Manager - Agricultural Products, is part of the Global Quality Systems team, reporting to the Global Quality Systems Agricultural Category Lead and is responsible for the implementation of the Quality Systems actions/measurements and requirements for their respective product category, ensuring compliance with McDonald’s specifications, standards and guidelines resulting in safe, consistently high product quality to meet evolving customer expectations.
This position’s primary focus is on global suppliers of global core McDonald’s food products and in developing strong working relationships and collaboration with Market Quality Systems, ensuring activity at the market level are aligned with Global Supply Chain (GSC) values.
This position is accountable to:
- Ensuring the effective standardization and implementation of category specific specifications, standards, guidance documents, etc. by suppliers across the system, foundational to delivering safe, high-quality products to our restaurants.
- Working directly with suppliers within their assigned geographies, leading continuous improvement initiatives and the standardization of critical quality systems so that suppliers operating multiple facilities are all focused on achieving the same outcomes in support of supplier "self-managed excellence".
- Being the category “subject matter expert" for continuously improving Quality Management and Food Safety systems and supporting supplier lead initiatives around food safety, product quality, facility infrastructure, GMP, HACCP inclusive of raw materials and finished product.
- Working cross functionally with Sourcing, Sustainability, Food Safety, Field Service, Quality Centres, Systems & Tools to deliver the functional objectives of GSC.
- Developing risk assessments and critical issues management.
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders.
- Fostering strong collaboration with markets and suppliers.
- Supplier development, approval and best practices sharing to ensure supplier consistency of products supplied to the system thus greater finished food product consistency.
Key Success Measures:
- Able to implement Global Quality and Food Safety Standards.
- Able to review and develop raw material and finished product specifications, standards, guidelines, requirements, etc.
- Support development of raw material sourcing strategies in partnership with Strategic Sourcing.
- Conduct reviewing and monitoring of manufacturing processes and suitable control systems as well as operational and product evaluation procedures.
- Capable of facilitating collaboration with suppliers and supply chain leadership establishing strong partnerships.
- Able to demonstrate continuous improvements across the Agricultural products supply chain.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving, communication, collaboration and leadership skills
- Provides ongoing coaching and training to staff, other departments staff and suppliers.
This global role operates as a subject matter expert and key advisor for Market supply chain teams, the ideal applicant will have significant experience where they were responsible for directly managing food categories and have a strong knowledge of Quality Systems.
- Expertise in process design/control, food science and ingredient technology, microbiology, statistics, GMP, HACCP, food plant sanitation and employee hygiene.
- Bachelor's degree in food technology, food science, or related field.
- Strong experience of food manufacturing, processing, quality assurance or product development.
- Familiarity with recognized food plant audit schemes such as GSFI, FSSC, etc.
- Comfortable with working in a virtual organization, acting independently, and dealing with ambiguity.
- Strong English language verbal and written communication skills required .
- Willingness to travel internationally.
