Job description
Are you an experienced journalist, with previous experience in a fast paced digital newsroom environment? Do you want the opportunity to interview your favourite celebrities, break big news stories daily and drive traffic to one of the biggest magazine brands in the UK? Then it’s time to join the Magazines team at Reach Plc as our Senior News Reporter!
The Senior News Reporter will drive traffic through brilliantly written breaking news, exclusive interviews and thought-provoking features for Reach Magazine titles including OK!, New Magazine and the magazine supplements for the Mirror, Express and Daily Star.
You will also have the opportunity to travel and cover big celebrity events and red carpets.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.
What will the role involve?
- Driving traffic through exciting fresh and exclusive lines and breaking news
- Leading shifts and managing news lists, delegating stories to reporters and editing the homepage
- Looking after celebrity columnists, bringing in exclusive ideas and interviews, will cover celebrity events and red carpets
- Conducting exciting interviews and attending events on behalf of OK! and other magazines
- Pitching timely news ideas
- Getting to film video content for magazines social media pages and being trained to edit videos
- Working in our Magazines Hub you will get bylines in both print and digital publications
- This position will have some weekend working so a flexible approach is required
Who are we looking for?
- NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree and knowledge of media law
- Excellent experience interviewing celebrities, with an enviable contact book
- Background at a national or fast paced regional news title
- Knowledge of how to drive traffic via strong exclusive headlines
- A passion for all things celebrity, TV and a nose for an exclusive scoop
- Excellent understand of social media and analytics
- A great problem solver with the people skills needed to guide a team
