Senior Merchandiser - Household Electricals - 12m FTC
- 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (2300039G)
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Merchandiser to join the Household Electrical team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. You’ll be responsible for translating the category strategy and delivering agreed stock parameters to all Sainsbury’s Argos channels whilst overseeing its execution to deliver profitable growth for the ranges.
Being an accomplished and authentic leader, you will act as a coach who can inspire and lead a team.
What you need to do
- Create and implement a customer driven strategic vision for their ranges in line with the category strategy agreed with the senior stakeholders with clearly defined and measurable initiatives
- Using knowledge of markets and suppliers, inform the category budget and create and implement trading plans to achieve category strategy
- In conjunction with Buying, manage pricing across category to achieve a competitive position without compromising profitability
- To liaise with global suppliers and sourcing offices to identify the most cost-effective sourcing routes, and work closely with overseas teams
- Ensure team activity is legal and compliant, and that all team members are trained to understand their obligations under competition law and ethical training
- To act as a coach and leader by managing, motivating and developing the merchandising team, regularly assessing individuals’ performance and giving feedback where appropriate
- Embracing change - taking a proactive approach to supporting adoption of new ways of working in GM and role modelling the corporate values
- Travel between our sites, and foreign travel in line with business needs
- Play a pivotal role supporting the Head of Merchandising & Director’s in key business cross functional projects
What you need to know and show
- Proven track record & recent comparable experience in a merchandising role with line management responsibility
- Empathetic, inspiring people lead
- Digital channel experience (including digital merchandising)
- Excellent technical knowledge of merchandising systems
- Excellent knowledge and experience of replenishment systems
- Proven track record of delivering results to target as an individual and within a team
- Project management experience would be beneficial
- Ability to work under pressure in an agile and dynamic commercial environment
- Confidence to influence and engage at all levels
- Market knowledge & customer focus
- Strong commercial, analytical, problem solving & presentation skills
- Experience of projects outside of BAU that have driven business change
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build cross functional networks
