- Create, Implement and Manage the departmental budget in line with business objectives and fully engage with the Risk and Opportunities process to identify potential within the Quality Organisation. Review the budget and ensure that robust fiscal control is maintained and that exceptions are managed effectively. Ensure that financial AOP exception data is available for the executive Global Quality Leadership monthly review with the VP Quality.

Manage the planning and resourcing of quality engineering support for the projects to ensure the execution of all planned arrangements for quality control and quality assurance as appropriate to the business. Ensure that adequate, trained resource is made available to the programs in support of the operational requirements and that they focus on Product Quality Improvements and management of non-conformance.

Develop Quality Metrics in support of the Operations Management team which gives visibility of non-compliance status and progress of corrective and preventive actions within the manufacturing processes. Report regularly on the quality performance of the project, establish targets for improvement, analyse the data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.

Ensure compliance to regulatory authority requirements, industry standards and customer requirements as defined by the following; AS9100 Aerospace Standard, NADCAP, CAA and EASA Airworthiness Regulations and customer specific quality requirements.

Provide support to the project in terms of being the Quality focal point for customer, supplier and regulatory authorities as appropriate. Ensure that all critical Quality processes are managed effectively in accordance with formal processes through the deployment of product audit and other supporting tools.

Manage and support the customer relationship/interface for all product quality issues such as G8D’s, Fault Reports, eSCAN’s, NCN’s, Disclosures etc and ensure that all actions are initiated and managed to an agreed timescale.

Support the management of the day to day supplier product quality issues through the team and ensure that the Supplier Quality management team are engaged with all issues and the escalation process is deployed to resolve systemic problems.

Manage the preparation, planning, resourcing and execution of First Article Inspection, Last Article Inspection and Verification plans for all product changes of our manufacturing processes.

Proactively implement and monitor action necessary for specific improvement of product quality standards of the manufactured deliverable and engage the production team in the resolution of the non-conformance and deployment of the preventive action.

Responsible for the management of the Material Review Board (MRB) process identifying and implementing recommendations as necessary to ensure material is dispositioned efficiently and all corrective action is taken to prevent re-occurrence within the manufacturing cycle.

Accountable for ensuring that training and development plans are established and monitored for team members in support of the Global Quality succession plans. In line with functional requirements development of the team succession planning activity should be deployed utilising the 9 box process to develop and maintain high performance within the team.

Manage the deployment of the PDR process across the product quality team and ensure that all quality engineers have a robust set of objectives supporting the business drivers and that there is a direct link to the top level company objectives through AIMS.

Take the appropriate action to review and maintain the project Quality Management System, compile and communicate Quality procedures and assist the IPT to ensure that project procedures are developed, deployed and maintained. Assist in the deployment of the Quality Policy strategy effectively within the project and ensure that it is reflected and delivered within the product and supporting processes.
- Drive, support and contribute to the project Quality review mechanism ensuring focus on improvement and ensure that all key quality issue are escalated within the business review structure to drive root cause correction.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and continuous operation of visible control measures indicating the achievements, performance, plan and priorities of the product quality engineering team.
- Responsible for all man-management tasks associated with the product quality engineering team e.g. WTMS, overtime, holidays, discipline, grievance etc.
- Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
- Have 7 years relevant quality/engineering experience within a Quality and Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills – interface with customers, Suppliers and Executive Management with the ability to challenge and provide advice on strategies which support the business goals.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
- Extensive in-depth knowledge of Quality Engineering Techniques including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Established ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to staff.
- Experience of successfully developing and implementing new technology for diverse and complex business problems.
- Sound project management experience in a cross-functional environment and experience in managing resources to meet goals on multiple projects.
- Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures. In addition guidance is also available from well defined procedures (what to do, not how to do it).
- Work results are reviewed as and when necessary. Results are only reviewed for overall adherence to stated objectives and policies.
- Decisions which affect their own job or a work team seldom require approval. Decisions which impact on a department or more than one department will require occasional approval. Decisions which impact on other projects or functions will require occasional approval. In addition decisions which impact on the customer or suppliers will seldom require approval.
- The job holder is likely to be responsible for direct reports, indirect reports and contract staff. Will generally be responsible for the leadership of others, for co-ordinating or supervising a team member or team; scheduling hours, checking results, taking actions to ensure quality standards are met and conducting performance assessments on others. It requires them to plan the short and medium term activities of the team and allocate resources in order to achieve business objectives.
