Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist (Paediatric Trauma & Orthopaedics)
Our Paediatric orthopaedic team is a close working, friendly and supportive group consisting of three children linked orthopaedic consultant surgeons, Nurse consultant, clinical nurse specialists and allied health support team.
The service is busy, with a high level of out-patient visits, along with both elective and truama in-patient cases on our designated children's wards.
The Trust offers a wide level of children's orthopaedic surgery, and is a referral centre for selective hip surgery.
We work very much as a team, focus on high quality clinical care, family-centred orthopaedic approach.
Works across Hospital Trust and Out Reach Hospital to deliver specialist clinical services to defined patient group (Children T&O).
Provides specialist, interdisciplinary education and training to other staff and students as knowledge allows.
Works strategically to influences the development of the service both locally and nationally.
Leads clinical audits in own area.
Participates in /facilitates/ undertakes research in specialist field.
Develop through advance learning.

Assesses, develops and implements evidence based specialist nursing care programmes, pathways and advice for patients.
Work towards being an expert practitioner in paediatric T&O conditions acting as a resource for other interdisciplinary healthcare.
Maintains a high profile in the clinical area, acting as a role model for good practice.
Works with professional groups and other agencies in both primary and secondary healthcare settings.
Support in the running of nurse-led clinics. When trained and competent, undertakes diagnostic and treatment procedures pertinent to specialist.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings, which will include paediatric safeguarding and supporting non-paediatric T&O staff on such issues.
