HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site
About this opportunity
Our Data Engineering team are responsible for the development and performance optimisation of a number of other SQL / C# applications which support our finance divisions.
Alongside leading the team, a key focus for this role is the successful prioritisation of work across all of the applications, as well as driving consistency of use of DevOps tooling across the wider FDAO Engineering teams.
As one of our leaders, you'll blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team, with the passion for mentoring and developing.
As part of your role, you’ll:
  • Run and lead a team of permanent and contractor resource to deliver changes to supported applications.
  • Build working relationships with various internal customers, often balancing conflicting priorities and working to tight timescales.
  • Identify, call out and proactively manage risks to ensure we meet the wide range of controls within the role.
  • Maintain relationships with our key internal customers and act as their business partner, whilst typically utilising support teams to ensure client satisfaction
  • Take ownership for implementing formal development frameworks, whilst informally coaching and mentoring others throughout the organisation and investing in own personal development.
  • Lead and deliver required outcomes for a portfolio of projects, whilst reporting to senior colleagues.

What you’ll need
  • Experience of line management and delivering through others, whilst also looking to develop your own skills and build a successful team.
  • An effective communicator, with superb attention to detail, who enjoys working with our internal customers.
  • Passionate about problem solving and analysis, you’ll be investigating and analysing data to identify solutions for customers.
  • To be bold and curious, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes and help innovate our processes.
  • A leader who can develop others in the technical aspects of the role
  • Understand the end-to-end process to contribute value and insight.
Experience and Skills:
  • Experience of leading a team would be an advantage but if you're new to line management we'll support you.
  • Experience of working in, and leading, an engineering team and support in running end to end processes and timetables.
  • Experience in developing in SQL & C#/.Net
