Job Description


We are opening a position for a Senior Legal Counsel within the Business affairs division of the legal department to support the Group’s growth. Your main mission will be to manage all the business legal aspects relating to the discussions with prospects and onboarding of new clients (RFPs, NDA and contract negotiations).

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel eager to work in a scale up part of the payment industry. We are looking for an experienced counsel who can work independently as well as collaborate within a collegial environment.

This role can be based in France, Luxembourg, Berlin, London, Madrid or Milan.

ABOUT THE JOB

Your missions :

  • Lead contract negotiations with our prospects (in particular the biggest ones) that can be located, so far, either in the EU or in the UK (review and conduct contract negotiations with prospects);
  • Support and partner with the sales team in negotiating, analysing and drafting contracts as well as in answering legal questions asked by prospects;
  • Support and partner with the sales team in the preparation of RFPs;
  • Manage our clients contract templates (draft, updating, implement process to use the templates by the sales team);
  • Provide guidelines and training documentation for the sales team regarding the onboarding of new clients;
  • Carry out legal research in relation to the position;
  • Manage the relationship with local external lawyers.

The mission includes negotiating commercial contracts for other group entities.

  • In the legal team: You will be reporting to our Lead Legal Counsel of the business division of the legal team.
  • In the company: you will work closely with the other teams, and in particular the sales, the support, the CSM, the compliance and finance teams, that are based all over Europe.

Qualifications


Expertise and experience

  • Minimum of 8 years experience of relevant legal experience working as a lawyer or in-house counsel
  • Expertise in contract negotiation and contract management for large accounts at the European/UK level.
  • Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach and act as a true business partner
  • Fluent in English is needed and French proficiency will be appreciated
  • International experience and basic knowledge in English law will be valued
  • Experience in litigation will be valued
  • Basic knowledge in the payment industry and in payment services regulations will be valued.
