We have opportunities for a number of Senior Leadership roles in Operations. The successful candidate will be joining an experienced team in supporting the full portfolio of work on the Sellafield estate.

The operations profession offers a wide range of opportunities, organised into our four values streams (remediation, retrievals, special nuclear materials and spent fuel management) each brings its own specialised training personalised to you and your area. The challenges within operations mean no two days are alike and a large professional network is in place to ensure innovation is actively encouraged. The variety of work ranges from manual hands-on, to driving of industrial machinery or controlling cutting edge robotics dependant on the task at hand.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

• Graduate or significant relevant experience in an Operations, Maintenance or Engineering Discipline.
• Significant experience of leadership / management, working within a high regulated environment/industry.
• Demonstrable experience of leading Operations in a large-scale hazardous environment.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret a diverse range of technically complex information.
• Practical knowledge of Business Improvements, Lean Manufacturing or Delivery of Improvements.
• Evidence of coaching, mentoring and developing people at a Senior Level.
• Ability to achieve a level of security clearance.

It would be beneficial for candidates to also have:

• Demonstrable experience of acting as interface and effective communication with regulators or stakeholders.
• Experience of working within a unionised environment.

With nearly a third of the site’s 11,000+ workforce working in Operations and the remainder providing the support and service to Operations. With both Nuclear and non-nuclear activities spread across new or aged facilities, including operations in Utilities, Building Management and Transport & Rail.

Our current plans contain multiple new build facilities and a large portfolio of facilities to decommission. Our operational people play a key role in the lifecycle of these facilities, from the design and build, through the various stages of operations to ultimately the decommissioning and demolition.
