Job description
The Department of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the delivery of comprehensive Human Resource (HR) support, as part of the department's Core Professional Services Team under the supervision of the Business & Operations Manager.
You will manage a team of four, with responsibility for the delivery of a proactive and responsive HR service to academic, research and professional staff and external visiting collaborators.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in HR and be able to demonstrate both factual and theoretical knowledge of HR administration; experience in a Higher Education environment would be an advantage but is not essential. As a manager of a team of 4 HR professionals, you will be responsible for coordinating multiple processes while adhering to University policies and employment regulations. You will be able to review new advice and guidance, assess its impact on department procedures, and recommend and implement changes as required. You will an excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal and organisational skills that you will use to create and maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of people. As well as excellent organisational skills, you will be self-motivated, trustworthy and able to apply discretion when managing highly confidential information. You will be able to prioritise and work quickly and accurately, demonstrating consistently high levels of attention to detail. You will possess a flexible and adaptable mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet multiple deadlines.
Competence with the Microsoft Office suite of software is essential, and experience working with specialist HR systems and other business-related software would be advantageous.
You will be educated to degree level/Level 6 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience
