Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior health care assistant who is passionate about improving the health and recovery of people with serious mental illness. Clairvale is a 10 bedded unit for adults over the age of 18 under the care of Community mental health services. Clairvale provides treatment within a multidisciplinary service and our facilities, activities, therapies and services are designed with our patients, recovery and community reintegration in mind.
We believe every individual has strengths and our treatment programs build on these to help our service users recover. We want all service users under our care to have the right care, treatment and support to be able to return to their community. Healthcare Assistants work supporting staff teams in delivering and focusing on our Patients and their rehabilitation, daily activities and care. The role can be quite active and we would therefore require you to be able to cope with the demands of an active post. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, passionate and committed to work within the recovery model and dedicated to improve the well-being of service users and their carers. It is essential that you demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for managing your own workload at a high standard and delivering to set deadlines, despite tight timescales and conflicting priorities. To be a Senior Healthcare Assistant you should have a QCF 3 or be committed to completing the course. There are skills and personal characteristics needed.
To be a Healthcare Assistant in mental health care, you will need to be resilient, caring and kind, cheerful and friendly, willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.), able to follow instructions and procedures and able to work in a team but use your own initiative. You'll also need communication and listening skills, organisational skills and observational skills. There is a strong commitment to promoting your professional development and you will be supported by supervision and will be given the opportunity to develop and enhance clinical skills, leadership skills, therapeutic interventions and case management through annual appraisal and a personal development plan.
