Job description

Nyobolt develops, manufactures, and commercialises lithium-ion batteries which charge in minutes. The company’s battery technology spans a range of applications, from electric vehicles to robots and cordless appliances.
To assist in continuing our growth, the R&D team are seeking a motivated, hands-on team player, with material and cell analysis experience, with the opportunity to make an impact on the technical direction of the company. You will be involved in developing and understanding new Li-ion technologies, using electrochemical experiments and characterisation techniques to contribute to Nyobolt’s product portfolio Achieving the goals of the role will be challenging but rewarding, and you will be expected to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, self-organisation, and teamwork as part of a multi-faceted team within the company.
Key responsibilities:
  • Take a leading role in the development of understanding of the fundamental working limits of Nyobolt’s electrode materials, including developing an understanding of degradation mechanisms and system optimisation.
  • Work with R&D team to plan and conduct experiments, analyse materials, analyse data, and ensure work is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the preparation and project management of relevant grant-funded research programs.
  • Collaborate with wider Nyobolt teams, external laboratories, universities, suppliers and vendors for feasibility tests, process development for manufacturing, and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and protection of IP through rigorous documentation of experiments and preparation of invention disclosures.
  • Ensure strict safe working standards are followed and promote a safe, collaborative and inclusive working environment.
Key Requirements:
  • PhD in materials or battery chemistry.
  • Experience with material analysis and relevant analytical techniques (e.g. XPS, SEM, XRD).
  • Experience with battery electrochemistry.
  • Understanding of state-of-the-art electrolyte systems.
  • Be able to carry out thorough data analysis on complex systems.
