About the home
The Abbey Dean Care Home is a 18-bed nursing home located in the Barnham, West Sussex. We offer person-centered care to our residents with a focus on promoting independent living and support where needed to meet each individual resident’s care needs.
The home has a good staff-to-resident ratio, with a regular and versatile team there to support our resident’s needs. We also involve other relevant members of the multi-disciplinary team such as GPs, physios, OTs, care & support staff, families, and the individual themselves to ensure that we are able to support our resident's needs appropriately.
As a personal care assistant working in the home you will have the opportunity to get to know your residents closely, understanding their needs, choices, and preferences closely. Alongside personal care, you will also be involved in our activities program delivery for our residents.

Job description
As a Senior personal care assistant, you will be required to:
- To provide support that respects their dignity and choice
- Promote and assist them to maintain independent living
- To have regard for their family’s emotional needs
- To carry out all care tasks in line with service users’ needs
- To follow the care plan carefully and deliver safe care
- Administer medication
- Assist with personal care; i.e. washing, bathing, dressing and toileting
- Assist with moving and handling
- Help maintain nutritional needs
- To read care plans at the client’s home and complete log sheets fully and correctly
- To conduct yourself professionally at all times
- To comply with the national minimum care standards, domiciliary care regulations and requirements as described in the company handbook
- To ensure that confidentiality, respect, dignity, privacy and independence of the client is paramount, in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. Maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
Currently Recruiting for:
Carer
Combination of weekday, weekend, and night shifts
Rates of pay from £9.50 – £10.50/Hr depending on experience#
Weekend availability is required (pay uplifts apply on weekends)
Senior Day or Night Carer
8 pm – 8 am Shifts, £10/hr+
Weekend availability is required (pay uplifts apply on weekends)
- Care Experience Essential
- L2 or L3 in Health & Social Care Preferable
- Care Skill Certificate to be completed as part of the induction
Experience:
- Care experience is preferable but full training is also offered to all recruited staff.
- Trial shifts are available.
License/Certification:
Expectation to complete the Care Certificate during their first 6 months of training
