We have a great long term Senior(Band 8A) Mechnical Services Estates management position with a great, friendly NHS trust in Cambridge
You will be responsible for:
Assisting the Head of Estates Engineering in delivering the mechanical estate maintenance services, which includes reactive maintenance and PPM, at the Hospital (including off-site properties).
Responsible for assisting the Head of Estates Engineering with managing the mechanical infrastructure including medical gas, water and heating
Responsible for managing a team of mechanical engineers comprising 4 hospital engineers and the water quality manager to provide a quality service that is responsive to service and clinical needs. This will include carrying out appraisals, managing sickness and absence, ensuring sufficient cover when planning leave etc.
Responsible for managing a variety of technical contracts
Responsible for organising complex site shutdowns for maintenance work including liaison with departmental heads as required.
Responsible for negotiating with senior clinical staff to enable routine maintenance and repair of equipment affecting clinical areas.
To deputise for the Head of Estates Engineering in relation to operational and staff management, as well as assisting with projects and strategic planning in relation to backlog maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, if and when directed,Financial responsibilities including monitoring of contracts and assisting with managing revenue budgets.
Responsible for compliance with HTMs, regs and other legislation in both staff training requirements and equipment suitability.
Responsible for monitoring professional training needs of all estates mechanical staff and recommending/implementing such training, including specialist equipment training.
This post will require participation in the on call rota for out of hours working. This will also involve working the Saturday morning when on call for Theatre maintenance and other planned works .
Experience required:
- Proven experience managing a team of technical, skilled and unskilled staff.
- Proven experience in managing a significant budget or budgets.
- Extensive practical experience of FM mechanical plant, equipment and systems.
- Previous successful industrial experience in maintenance.
- Experience of implementing and managing safe systems of work including permit to work.
- Successfully carrying out the formal duties of Responsible Person / Authorised Person across a number of functions
- Experience in drafting processes and policies for departmental approval.
- Experience of producing technical specifications and managing maintenance contractors
Its beneficial to have:
- Experience of working within NHS estate
- Experience of working with CAFM system
- Experience of managing, auditing and reviewing large and complex maintenance contracts.
- Experience in developing and implementing management plans for compliance with statutory instruments and specific industry standards
