Senior Crisis Communications Manager – Maternity cover (Europe Flexible)
As a Senior Crisis Communication Manager, you will lead crisis and issues management communications across Europe, as part of the Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (PACS) team. In a fast-paced environment, where no two days will be the same, you will work with a wide-range of stakeholders across a broad range of topics – to protect the reputation of the company and promote our values externally. What You’ll Do for Us:
- Challenge the business to enhance the reputation of the company and our brands, balancing the debate on a continuous basis
- Ensure you can rely on your stakeholder network to anticipate any incoming issues and mitigate any risk for the company
- Develop and implement issues management strategies and communications plans on a wide range of topics
- Build strong relationships with local market leads to support them in managing day-to-day reactive and reputational issues
- Work with the global team, bottlers and other operating units to align and collaborate on high profile issues management
- Engage with industry bodies and trade association to achieve balanced media coverage and address industry-wide issues.
- Mitigate risk from our proactive campaigns and plans, working with the rest of the central PACs team
- Collaborate with teams and leaders from across the business and system to ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging
- Manage the IMCR (incident management and crisis resolution) process within Europe and ensure market preparedness to manage and resolve issues
Essentials:
- Compelling storyteller and creative thinker
- Effective, clear and meticulous writing skills with obsessive attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications skills
- Strong ability to work with different teams, both inside & outside of the system
- Experience in strategic communications, crisis communications, issues management
- Stakeholder management skills
- Curiosity about a wide range of topics, and willingness to learn new areas
- Collaborative, network-oriented mindset
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Communications, Crisis Communications
- Experience managing a busy press office, handling journalist enquiries and drafting media responses.
- Proven track record in developing and delivering communication campaigns
- Experience working across corporate communications for consumer facing brands.
- Experience of managing issues and crises and advising businesses on response.
- Experience of briefing senior level executives ahead of media opportunities.
- Food and drink or FMCG sector experience advantageous.
- Excellent strategic thinking.
- Self-starter who can use initiative and drive projects forward.
- Good knowledge of Europe media landscape and understanding of changes in the PR and media landscape.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and to work at speed.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks and internal stakeholders to deliver results against strategic objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
