Senior Support Worker

Outreach - Basildon, Brentwood, Rochford, Castlepoint

The Butterflies team are key to helping our members to lead fulfilling lives, ensuring that their interests and needs are met, whilst allowing for their varying levels of physical and mental ability.
Providing activity packages on an outreach basis across Essex for children and young people with complex needs, who require a higher level of support than the club sessions.
· Focussed sessions e.g. messy play, cooking, sensory, music, art, swimming.
· Community based sessions e.g. train rides, nature walks, seaside, bowling, meals out.
What we are looking for:
· A passion for supporting and empowering children and young people
· Ability to form positive working relationships with others
· A calm and rational manner when dealing with challenging situations
· Experience working with children and young people with complex needs including challenging behaviour.
· Level 5 qualification relating to working with children and young people.
· Driver’s license preferred.
- Confident to deliver group and 1 to 1 activities
- Confident /willing to be trained in hoist usage
- Ability to provide personal care in a sensitive and dignified manner
- Willing to train in specific medical needs for the children and young people
- A team player who engages well with others
- A strong communicator
- A genuine interest in promoting independence and lifestyle opportunities for children and young people

Responsibilities include
· Risk assessing activities and children’s needs continually
· Ensuring the safety of the child/ young person always remains paramount.
· Communicating effectively with the families of the children to ensure a smooth transition
· Using alternative communication methods where required
· Monitoring and recording of sessions
· Supporting other staff members with strategies and guidance
· Directing other staff members when required
· Providing personal care
· Supporting medical needs
· Building positive relationships with the children, young people and their families.
· Creating fun and positive experiences for the children and young people

All successful candidates will be subject to a vetting process in line with safer recruitment requirements. Salary: From £10.00 per hour
