The Children's Country House at Sudbury is the first heritage experience of its kind for the National Trust, where the Hall, Museum and Garden put children and families at the very centre of the experience. We are looking for a Senior Collections and House Officer (Maternity Cover) to be part of the team that plans and implements collections care and presentation across Sudbury. This includes Sudbury Hall and our Museum of Childhood.
Joining us at this exciting time will mean implementing new routines, dee-cleaning programmes, and preventative conservation. You'll have the skills and experience to collaborate with curators, conservators and our visitor experience team, an innovative problem solver and a key interest in curatorial development.
This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

You'll manage a small team, report to the Collections and House Manager and be part of the Property Leadership Team. This role also forms part of our Conservation and Emergency Lead rota, so weekend working is part of the role.

What you'll be doing
As a member of the Property Leadership Team (PLT) you'll be key in leading for a high quality, effective day to day operation of the hall, you will supervise your team, manage budgets and be part of key projects across the site. You will lead for the delivery of daily care and conservation and maintain Collections Managements Systems and other data information. You will implement monitoring and manage risk for our collection and spaces. You will be part of the team to develop our collections and rationalisation of what is used for display and engagement in each room. You will be a Collections representative on access and engagement opportunities. You will manage a team of staff and volunteers and work with the wider property team to support the volunteer journey
