Senior Category Manager

PURPOSE
The role is needed to deliver effective procurement solutions to new customer tenders, major project delivery teams and the business as a whole. This role will develop and manage a group of commodities that support the overall objectives of the company.

YOU PROBABLY WANT TO KNOW WHATS INVOLVED
- Manage a selected group of strategic commodities
- Develop specific commodity strategies that support the overall business objectives of the company
- Implement commodity strategies that contribute to the growth and profitability of the company
- Ensure that all supply chain risks/opportunities are identified within the commodity strategy and mitigated/realised
- Ensure appropriate supplier contracts, KPIs and SLAs are negotiated with key suppliers
- Apply “best practice” techniques/processes throughout the general cycle of strategy development execution and maintenance
- Develop commodity specific tools/processes to enable competent strategy development
- Provide a responsive and pro-active knowledge base as leader of a cross-functions commodity team
- Assist with problem resolution during implementation and maintenance of commodity strategies
- Ensure that commodity activities are aligned to Supply Chain objectives, follow the correct procedures and utilise the appropriate tools/processes
- To be assigned projects, to support commodity activity and development of the Procurement function
- Help provide a seamless interface between the Commodity activities and the Material Management function, developing value added relationships with the Material Management team, cross-functional departments and suppliers.
- Assist sites with problem resolution on any supply chain related issues.
- Adhere to the companies’ quality procedures and principles at all times.
- Assume the role of change agent for all externally purchased materials or services.
- Ensure that all Procurement data on Business Central is correct and managed in a professional manner
- Effectively manage, develop and mentor team in line with corporate processes and procedures.
- Ensure that all employees within the function have clear objectives which are effectively managed through performance reviews, development plans and other people processes in order to maximize performance and talent potential.
- Proactively encourage the use of all people policies and procedures such as reward and recognition initiatives etc.
WHAT EXPERIENCE WE NEED FROM YOU
- Must have line management experience
- Must have senior level experience in a procurement / supply chain role.
- Must have prior knowledge of developing and implementing supply chain solutions.
- Capex Procurement would be advantageous
- Preferable to have experience in a construction / manufacturing / engineering environment.
- Business or technical degree; with specialisation in procurement and supply chain management being desirable.
