Job description
The Senior Care Assistant will work under the direction of the deputy manager and home manager providing leadership and support to other care assistants in the nursing home. The role requires advanced knowledge and experience in care practices, including dementia care, palliative care, and other specialized areas.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to care assistants in the nursing home, ensuring that care practices are safe, effective, and compassionate.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal care and assisting with meal times.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor and record changes in residents’ health status, reporting any concerns or changes to the nurse in charge or home management.
- Develop and implement care plans and treatment protocols for each resident, in collaboration with the nurse in charge and other members of the care team.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, engaging in conversation, activities, and hobbies.
- Help with meal presentation and serving, ensuring that residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, following infection control and health and safety procedures.
- Attend training and development sessions as required, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills in care practices.
- Collaborate with other members of the care team, including nurses, therapists, and physicians, to ensure the best possible care for residents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the nurse manager or head of care.
Working Conditions:
The Senior Care Assistant may work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, depending on the needs of the nursing home.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract
Salary: £13.50 per hour
