That is why we are on the lookout for a Senior Buyer to join our Buying team and help us grow the category. Product development and range selection is a key element to the role, as well as being well aware of developments in the wider Homewares market.

Having a methodical approach, a good eye for detail and a passion for product is a key part of being a Buyer, as well as spotting current trends and building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

Your responsibilities will include to:

• Identify and source (from the UK and overseas) ranges which drive the sales and margin performance of the Department
• Identify, order and manage the supply of “Promotional” product which drives “freshness” for our customers
• Building a long term sourcing and trading strategy
• Developing new product specs with our Design team
• Drive Innovation in the ranges by keeping up to date with product and packaging developments and competitor activities and bringing a sense of creativity to the role.
• Plan launches to meet key seasonal deadlines. This involves working closely with Suppliers and internal teams (Merchandisers, Technologists, Marketing, and Design) to ensure product launches are smooth.
• Build Ranges to make the best use of the graded space available in our stores.
• Drive Multi-channel – to ensure that sales are maximised through all the available channels to customers.
• Actively “trade” your category to maximise sales on a weekly basis. To do this you will keep right up to date on the performance of products (and competitor activities) and take pricing, promotion, merchandising and marketing actions to drive sales.
• Develop and encourage your team
