The Opportunity
With our continued planned expansion across all defence markets, we require a Senior Bid Manager to join our Integrated Mission Systems team at Leonardo in the UK. The Senior Bid Manager will be to lead and drive the submission of winning proposals to our UK and International customer base, leading to increased market share in our integrated mission system tools and services sector.
The Senior Bid Manager will help to implement our exciting growth plans and a rewarding role for someone who strives to deliver business winning success in a dynamic, cutting edge & innovative defence services sector. The Senior Bid Manager will work very closely with the Sales and Integrated Project Teams to agree and implement the winning bid strategies and deliver new business in line with customer expectations and corporate governance.
We are looking for an individual with experience of the bid process, tools and techniques as well as the ability to engage and lead the wider internal team in delivering compelling proposals to our customers. We are looking for an individual with defence (or similar) bid management experience preferably in a complex services, training and / or testing environment, ideally within an Electronic Warfare or similar type background.
What you will do
- You will be a key member of the capture team, playing a leading role in developing and testing bid strategy and then drive the wider team to produce compelling proposals.
- You will lead the internal bid team through all internal bid stages of the campaign process to ensure the proposal is delivered in line with the agreed strategy and the timescales required by the customer.
- You will work in support of the campaign lead to ensure that our submissions are customer focused and solution driven in order to be business winning and competitive.
- You will work across our training, testing and services business areas to help implement complete integrated mission solution offerings to deliver enduring partnerships with our key target market sectors.
Typical Accountabilities:
- Build and manage relationships with internal / external stakeholders to ensure all bids are prepared, managed and reviewed appropriately and in line with Leonardo policies and standards.
- Work with all functions to ensure they engage early on key pursuits and deploy the right resources for the task against business priorities.
- Translate and apply the appropriate strategy for managing bids in order to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities within the bid.
- Schedule and plan LCM, Design and Proposal Reviews within the overall business winning governance process.
- Plan, lead and challenge solution decisions, cost build up and pricing effort.
- Be the continued internal supporting voice of the customer and agreed strategy throughout the bidding process.
- Work with bid team to identify risk and develop mitigation plans.
- Plan and manage bid spend to deliver bids on budget.
- Manage the proposal document development process - win themes, outlining, storyboarding, graphics and writing.
- Drive the Bid approval process and ensure that the appropriate level of Bid Approval is obtained.
- Ensure the on time delivery of a high quality compelling Proposal with consistent messages and win themes.
