About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior BI Analyst to join our analytics department supporting our product owners and our relationship managers. We’re looking for someone with a passion for analysing big data to uncover value for our customers and unlock opportunities for our partners. They’ll also be someone who can drive those insights into actions with our key stakeholders.

The successful applicant will take the lead as they focus on how analytics can support the performance of our core insurance products and drive positive change for our commercial partners. Enabling data-driven decisions that enhance customer experience, optimise our product journey and improve the quality of the products our key business partners offer our customers.

You will work closely with the wider Technology department, Product, Marketing, and Finance teams to ensure we have the highest quality data and reporting available. This data lets us answer key questions about our business performance from stakeholders and our senior management team.

What you'll be doing?

As a Senior BI Analyst your input will be crucial in driving business impact and decision making by bridging the gap between data and insight. You’ll be helping to mentor and develop junior analysts, as well as championing data, reporting and analytics across other areas of the business.

You‘ll help promote an ethos of data-informed decision-making throughout Confused.com by:

• Visualising – Developing and maintaining dashboards to give accessible answers to commonly asked questions, especially around key performance metrics.
• Investigating – Supporting anyone in Confused.com who has a business problem by providing timely expertise and analysis of our data that helps tell a coherent story.
• Predicting – Using analytical and data science techniques to make predictions based on our data, making recommendations to improve the business and optimise strategic decision-making.
• Enabling – Providing training guidance and support on how to query and understand data to improve overall analytical capability and autonomy across the business.
• Researching - Keeping up to date with macroeconomic factors, while being able to interpret this accordingly to understand and measure the impact on our business performance.

Requirements

Technologies/Experience:

• Strong experience within an analytical role
• Strong experience with SQL for querying our databases
• Strong experience with visualisation tools for developing dashboards and data sources, and for use in diagnostic analysis (preferably tableau)
• Can apply programming acumen and use a breadth of tools, data sources and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of high-impact business questions
• Be an effective communicator, capable of independently driving issues to resolution and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Have a keen eye for understanding customer behaviour and optimisation techniques to maximise customer satisfaction and conversion

• Can parse, manipulate and review large quantities of complex data, and then interpret that data and translate complex material into understandable conclusions
• Can pro-actively identify new business opportunities or ways to optimise performance through market understanding and analytical techniques
  

Desirable criteria

• A degree in a mathematical or analytical subject is highly desirable. Experience in partnering with business teams to develop metrics and related insights is a big plus
• Be familiar with the financial services industry, and have a good understanding of key drivers in the price comparison market.
• Experience of languages such as Python, R or SAS for analysis or model building
• Experience with GA/GTM reporting and management
• Experience of using Databricks
• Experience in database technology with solid understanding and hands-on skills with SQL Server, dimensional cubes
• Experience building large scale data sets in Azure or similar big data environments
