Job description
Two Ten Therapy is a heart-centred, people first service which has been operating as a service for four years, providing counselling to children and young people in schools as well as adults in varies contexts.
We are seeking to appoint a SELF-EMPLOYED ASSOCIATE SCHOOL COUNSELLOR to provide high-quality counselling to students within secondary school settings for a minimum of one day a week.
About the Role
Our ideal candidate will work collaboratively with relevant staff to respond sensitively to the psychological needs of young people whilst independently balancing the sometimes conflicting priorities of a busy school setting. Counsellors will also need to note any additional non-counselling challenges experienced by students and, within the limits of confidentiality, make client-led recommendations to the school as to how these may be addressed.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about offering young people a comfortable, safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space to voice and explore their thoughts, feelings, and worries, and be familiar and confident responding to, and working with safeguarding presentations and/or complex issues that some clients may have experienced.
The role does require use of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Teams, and Forms for communication and records alongside a paper-based system, so being confident in navigating or learning IT features is a necessity.
It is important to remember that although working is this role is extremely rewarding, it can be challenging at times and so we encourage all potential candidates to reflect on their own resilience and support networks [including our team] before applying, so we can ensure our young people get the safe, reliable and consistent support they deserve.
Two Ten Therapy understands that counselling can be an isolating role and so continue to explore and offer ways of staying connected and supported as a team. Currently this includes mandatory training days, optional team days, tel/online check-ins and free bi-monthly group supervision that team members use their own time to attend.
Ideally this role is suited to those with previous school counsellor experience. However, if you have a qualification in counselling and another children's qualification and/or experience working with vulnerable children then we would like to hear from you.
