Fundamental to the role, will be dealing with challenging patients, visitors and staff, where difficult circumstances require a a multitude of approaches. The trust has a policy and guidance for the prevention and management of violent and abusive behaviour, this role will involve aiding in applying approved techniques.
Responsible for providing a specialist service, our officers are responsible for ensuring that patients, visitors, and staff are given advice and provided with a safe and secure environment in line with legislation and particularly in emergency situations. This will include communicating with the relevant emergency services.
Some of the challenges are difficult to deal, such as complex and dynamic situations and instances of violence and aggression, but when you have dealt with that incident you feel a huge sense of relief and you have the knowledge that you are making a difference to peoples lives when they need help the most. Throughout all of this you will be supported fully by the company's support structure of incident leads, supervisory teams and management.
To unwind we organise regular sporting activities between staff and we try and socialise outside of work too! We really do work as one big team!

Candidate Requirements:
- SIA Frontline security license (Essential)
- Healthcare security experience desirable but not essential.
- Care related experience or qualification would be desirable but not essential.
- Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. ESOL level 2 for non-English speakers is essential.
- Able to work under pressure with the ability to remain calm, individually and as part of a team with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business to ensure a positive customer experience for all patients/visitors/NHS staff members with the ability to interact showing empathy and compassion in difficult situations
- Be confident dealing with the public with a strong customer focus
- Reliable, Responsible, Punctual and Professional
- The ability to be pro-active and think on your feet using initiative and dynamic risk assessing
- Ability to manage violent and aggressive incidents efficiently and effectively.
- Five years’ checkable work history and references – to pass vetting in line with industry standards.
- Must be able to comply with an enhanced DBS screening check.
Main duties (but not limited to): Dealing with any incident, occurrences, unexpected events and responding to emergencies including fire and Intruder alarms in accordance with the site-specific assignment instructions / risk assessments Working in a hospital environment and aware at times you will meet patients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress where themeans of de-escalation in Implementing the necessary conflict management and physical intervention will be required to action and maintain in professional and legal manner
- Conduct internal and external foot patrols of the hospital to deter, detect crime and disorder to preserve order and protect trust property
- Performing one to one ESSO (Enhanced Supervision Security Officer) duties to protect and reassure vulnerable service users, visitors, and staff.
- Ensuring / performing of car park management including gate unlock/lockups.
- Conducting building lock and unlock duties as per schedule requirements
- Conduct escorts of cash collection services as required
- To assist NHS nursing staff in the escorting ofvulnerable patients between departments.
- Managing access for NHS staff, visitors, and contractors by checking and verifying identification.
- To collaborate closely with client representatives, patients, visitors and colleagues to resolve queries and complaints.
- Completion of incident reports using computer and paper-based systems and consulting with police and other third parties as necessary
- Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment and compliance maintained including Health and safety.
- Undertake continuous mandatory training to ensure the safety of Patients, Visitors, and staff of the trust
