We have a vacancy of Security Officer within our Security department at Bathford Paper Mill.
Job Purpose:
To maintain the standard of security of premises, employees, produce and plant as defined by Portals security practices and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Job holders must have a sound knowledge of; practices and procedures at the Portals site and the purpose and operation of all the security devices used for building, produce and personal protection.
- Assist in the control of access to and exit from the site of all employees, visitors, contractors and vehicles. This is to include checking the computer records to ensure that all visitors and contractors have signed the company’s confidentiality document and are not banned from entering the site.
- Monitor all site security alarms, fire and CCTV systems located within the Gatehouse
- Check all security equipment is working correctly.
- Complete all the required paperwork regarding the above duties and file for the correct period of time as laid down in the Site Operating Procedures.
- Maintain control of keys issued to employees and for normal use in security duties. Complete the correct log sheets for issue of these keys.
- Log all staff, visitors, and contractors on and off site.
- Control access to and exit from all high security production areas within the site by observing and implementing all access procedures, ensuring that the perimeter is always secure and protected by alarms.
- Issue, update and replacing identification badges for Portals personnel, contractors and visitors.
- Updating security registers, records and associated administration documentation.
- Conducting vault register checks and keep accurate records and reconcile anomalies.
- Conduct vehicle and personal searches in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Ensure that NO company produce leaves the site without the correct authorisation and paperwork.
- Log all airfreight and do relevant checks inline with Known Consignor requirements.
- Empty security waste from bins and deal with confidential waste disposal.
- Take emergency passport photographs for overseas travel.
- Assist the Security Manager or carry out other security duties as directed by the SM.
- Complete emergency alarm testing on time and report any anomalies.
As a member of the uniformed security force the guard must be smart, correctly dressed and courteous at all times. Although most of the job is covered by practices and procedures the job holder may be called upon to act on their own initiative in an emergency to protect the company property and product.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Good organisational skills and a disciplined approach.
- Working well, both as part of a team or on their own, with a minimum of supervision.
Desirable
- Experience in a similar disciplined working environment, e.g. Police, Armed Services or a Security background.
