We are currently recruiting for a Data Protection Assistant to work alongside our Data & Privacy Manager to develop, co-ordinate and maintain systems and procedures that ensure good governance for data, privacy, and information governance matters.
What will you do?
This is an interesting and varied role. The successful candidate will:
- Work with the Data & Privacy Manager and the Director of Corporate Governance (DCG) to ensure FSB has an appropriate suite of Data and Privacy Policies and Procedures enabling the appropriate use of information and compliance with data protection law.
- Monitor the data controller inbox, triaging emails, logging and taking action where required including data subject requests e.g. SAR requests, Restriction, Erasure, etc.
- Manage the data risk register
- Liaise with departmental data and privacy champions and provide support at the data champion working group meetings, including capturing and progressing actions.
- Manage the network of departmental Data Champions to ensure they have the skills and tools to support their data activity.
- Support the delivery of staff data and privacy awareness campaigns and other culture campaigns as required.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes e.g., data mapping and data retention policies by implementing appropriate internal data and privacy audits.
- Monitor the completion and quality of data privacy impact and legitimate interest assessments and undertake these where required, providing support and advice to the business.
- Support drafting and advising on Board and Senior Management reports, relevant policies, data sharing agreements, data and privacy provisions of legal contracts, and associated contracts and liaising with the Legal department in the coordination of advice.
- Advise the business on relevant case law and other legal and regulatory developments
Who are we looking for:
- Current knowledge of Data and Privacy legislation and experience of offering advice and guidance on data and privacy.
- Ideally, the successful candidate would hold a practitioner certificate in Data Protection or equivalent or have an interest in attaining a data protection qualification.
- Experience of input into information governance strategy and related policies and procedures.
- Experience of producing reports and management information on data and privacy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and Sharepoint Management.
