Accounts Assistant - Subsidiaries

Location: Waltham Cross, Herts

Salary: from £26,000 per annum

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (excluding unpaid daily breaks)

Core Hours: 0900 – 1700

Reynolds Catering Supplies is one of the leading fresh fruit & vegetable suppliers to the foodservice industry and the only remaining national family-run greengrocer in the UK. Established in 1945, Reynolds Catering Supplies provides more than 3,000 different types of fresh produce and chilled foods, from around the world to businesses across the UK.

The role of the Accounts Assistant is to administer the day-to-day financial accounting of subsidiary businesses of Reynolds Catering Supplies.

Accountabilities:

Day to day processes including:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of financial documents such as invoices and payment proposals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions into the accounting system.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in monitoring and following up on outstanding invoices and payments.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and performing general ledger reconciliations. This will include accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems for financial records and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any accounting discrepancies or issues.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance department, such as handling correspondence, answering inquiries, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Measured KPI’s:

  • Accuracy of data input.
  • Accuracy of balance sheet accounts.
  • Accuracy and Timeliness of Payment Processing.

To be successful in your application for the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience.

  • AAT Level 3 qualification (desirable).
  • At least 3 years’ experience within a similar role.
  • Proficient in MS Office and accounting software programs.
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to drive as some time will be spent at our Barking location.
