Position Summary:

Under supervision of IT Manager, duties include performing a variety of network support, system maintenance and server operating system support, including installing and maintaining all network switches, routers, firewalls and servers and supporting the LAN system. The applicant will oversee the day-to-day monitoring, management, and troubleshooting of the existing systems infrastructure, provide technical support on escalated items from the IT Helpdesk and end users within the City and Police Department.

Main Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to the following:

· Manage escalated helpdesk tickets by e-mail and phone with focus on evident customer service, communication and comprehensive note taking skills

· Works with the IT Department team for escalation, projects, and advanced troubleshooting

· Configures, installs, tests, troubleshoots, upgrades and maintains server hardware and software via on-site and remote support scenarios

· Supports and administers data center hypervisors and virtual servers with Windows server operating system

· Configures, installs, tests, troubleshoots, upgrades and maintains LAN and WAN Cisco and Meraki network endpoints

· Configures, installs, tests, troubleshoots, upgrades and maintains firewalls, rules and exceptions

· Ensures that existing infrastructure functions smoothly and offers users the highest level of service

· Works extensively with Active Directory, ITSM systems, Network monitoring tools, endpoint protection, security certificates, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SMTP, SNTP, FTP, Exchange servers, File servers, Print servers, backup jobs, site replication, and patch management

· Develops, documents, publishes, and enforces systems architecture procedures and standards

· Develops an ongoing maintenance schedule (e.g., backups, log rotation, checking system status for servers and workstations)

· Restores file server, repairs the affected volumes, and any other symptoms or manifestation in the event of power failure or any other reason causing file server failure or error

· Stays abreast of technical trends, new technology, and computer virus news and updates. Update computers and virus definitions periodically

· Performs other duties as assigned and must participate in departmental cross-training, job-sharing, and job duty reorganization efforts as directed by Supervisor

· Work with outside vendors and consultants to support and facilitate the rapid repair of inoperative/defective hardware and software

· Maintains inventory of software and hardware related to job role

· Provide after-hours on-call support for critical tickets and outages

· Required to maintain and support the technology in City Emergency Operations Center during emergencies and hurricanes. Staff are expected to remain on-site until the emergency status is lifted

· Regular in-person attendance during City and department business hours, since face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees, outside colleagues, residents, or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located only in the workplace is required

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related field. Work experience or knowledge may be substituted for college degree.

A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a system admin role is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

Possession of MCSA, Network+, Security+ certifications are preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $69,500.00 per year
