Job description
The University of St Andrews is currently seeking an ambitious and dynamic individual for the position of Security and Response Officer within the University Security and Response Team. Reporting to a Security and Response Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring that the University is a safe and secure environment for the students and staff that live and work here, as well as for visitors.
Working across and beyond the University Estate, duties will include ensuring that our buildings are secure, alarms and causes for concern are responded to appropriately, and that technology such as CCTV, incident recording system and digital radio / telephony system are utilised effectively.
Training will be provided during deployment, as part of a probationary period, and this may include some external training for which travel, and accommodation expenses will be provided.
Postholders will be required to undergo and pass training in an accredited Emergency First Aid course and Higher Education Safety and Security.
The post holder will be required to work as part of a team providing a 24/7, all year-round service working a 12-hour day shift / night shift pattern. In addition to the salary shown above, a Premium Hours Payment of an additional 1/3rd time is paid for hours worked between 10 pm and 6 am where those hours are not subject to any other overtime rate.
