An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology (CCGE) in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled PA/Secretary to provide administrative and PA support to the Professor of the Epidemiology of Ageing and other senior members, staff, students and visitors within the Group, to ensure the smooth running of the Unit, working mostly on your own initiative in collaboration with the departmental administrative team. This will include involvement in research studies, financial administration, purchasing, grant management, organisation of meetings and conferences (including foreign travel and accommodation), personnel issues, organisation of office space and maintenance of the Unit's website.
There will also be close liaison with Departmental staff, laboratory staff and senior staff from other Departments, such as Oncology, who are involved in the studies.
The CCGE sits within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care and comprises of research, statisticians, computer officers, administrative staff and post graduate students as well as visiting researchers. The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level or have equivalent with a minimum grade C or Level 4 in Maths and English or HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to work both independently and as part of a team. You will use your professional expertise and independent judgement to deliver an effective and efficient service to meet the requirements of staff and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority. You will have a proven ability to use tact and discretion whilst remaining calm. Flexibility and excellent organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Good IT skills are required along with familiarity with software which supports hybrid working, for example, Zoom and MS Teams. Funding for this full-time post is permanent.
The role holder will be based at Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts' Causeway, Cambridge, CB1 8RN (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre)
