The City of Antioch is currently accepting applications for Secretary I in multiple departments. This is a part-time, temporary job opening (may work up to 959 hours in a fiscal year).

This position will remain open until filled and can close at any time without notice. Those interested in this position are encouraged to apply immediately. Examples of Duties

  • Perform a variety of clerical support services for the assigned department, which may include receptionist duties, preparing documents, recordkeeping and filing.
  • Provide information to the public and City staff regarding City programs and functions.
  • Receive visitors at a public counter; sorting, coding, filing, retrieving, and verifying receipt of a variety of documents.
  • May assist with the planning, coordination, preparation and delivery of City events or programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing, legible handwriting.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay focused while performing multiple tasks.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks with speed and accuracy.
  • Work effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer and word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clerical experience.
