What's the role about?
The role is temporary and based entirely on the Leckford Estate in Hampshire and will last as long as it takes to complete the 1,600 acre arable harvest and perform basic primary cultivations. The working hours will be fairly typical for an arable farm during harvest and will be largely dictated by the weather and the need to seize all available opportunities to get the harvest in. Thus long working days (well into the evening) and 7 day a week working may be necessary on occasions.
To assist the arable team with preparations for the cereal harvest (grain store cleaning, hand-roguing of seed crops) and the harvest itself (mostly grain-carting). Some post-harvest field-work/cultivations will also be part of the role as well as helping out across the wider farming department and estate.
What you’ll be doing as a Seasonal Harvest Worker
Hand-roguing seed crops
Cleaning and maintenance of grain store
Tractor-work (carting and cultivations)
Working safely and in accordance with the Estate’s health & safety protocols
Any other tasks commensurate with the job level
What you’ll have
Full clean driving licence
Tractor licence
Good demonstrable experience of operating tractors, trailers and arable equipment
Previous harvest experience
What else can you bring
Certificates of competence in operating a telescopic handler and in driving a tractor and trailer.
