JOB SUMMARY
The post holder is responsible for leading the day to day running of the farmyard, care and welfare of animals and supervising and training volunteers. Deputising for Farmyard and livestock coordinator in their absence. This is a sessional position and includes mainly weekend work.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Managing the day to day running of the Farmyard
● Responsibility for the care and welfare of the animals on the farm
● To provide good customer care to the general public
● Teach Duke of Edinburgh students
● Supervise, support and train the volunteers and new volunteers
● To make sure there is routine and coordination on the farm and with the volunteers
● To Implement all Health and Safety procedures and report Health and Safety concerns to the line manager
● To provide meet and greets and other activities such as cuddle corner for the public
● To provide cover in the farm staff absence. i.e. sickness and holidays
● To assist other sessional workers on events at the farm or on mobile farms away from the farm
● To perform any other tasks reasonably requested by the Farmyard and livestock coordinator or Operations Manager
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The post holder will adhere to all health and safety instructions and not to do anything that might endanger themselves or others; to report to their line manager any dangerous situations in the workplace or any shortcomings in health and safety arrangements that they perceive.

Volunteers and duke of Edinburgh or work experience students
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
From Operations Manager and Farmyard and livestock coordinator and Farmyard supervisor
SPECIAL CONDITIONS It is a requirement there is no smoking in the workplace. The work of the Farmyard Sessional involves contact with young people. The postholder will therefore be subject to a DBS clearance on appointment and on an appropriate review basis thereafter.
The post holder can expect to undertake work at weekends. This job description sets out the main duties of the post at the date when it was drawn up. Such duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed.
