Job Description
Business Line: Design – P2 Graduate Architect
Locations: Manchester (requirements/locations subject to change)
AECOM is listed as the 3rd largest employer of architects worldwide in the World Architecture WA100 2020 survey, with 1637 architects. We currently have 160 architectural staff in the UK. AECOM are listed at number 15 in the AJ100 top architectural practices. AECOM employs around 7500 multi-disciplinary staff in the UK.
Our Architectural team is buoyant and growing with several large frameworks and projects recently won. The Practice is therefore recruiting an exceptional and ambitious Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join its busy design studio.
Examples of projects our Architectural team are involved in include:
British Embassy, Washington - AECOM are delivering the refurbishment of a Lutyen’s listed building Oriel, Specialist Eye Hospital - A new integrated hospital in London where AECOM are providing all design services
Japoma Stadium, Cameroon - AECOM have recently handed over this new football stadium and provided all services for a Turkish contractor
Fulham Wharf, London - Complex, residential scheme in London where AECOM are delivering architectural services
As a Part 2 Architectural Assistant you will work with senior members of our teams on a wide range of projects at all stages of the design and construction process. From day one, you will be involved in important and challenging projects.
Every day will be different, and you will be required to use your skills and knowledge to solve problems and provide key input into our projects.
You will work in a team to provide technical solutions, and your day could involve anything from producing designs, specifications and calculations, to assisting in technical reports, travelling to construction sites or participating in client meetings.
Assisting in the preparation of conceptual design work and the presentation of projects.
Supporting the design development of project proposals and feasibility studies.
Supporting the technical delivery and implementation of projects including preparing working drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
+ MA, M.Arch or equivalent architectural qualification.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English Language).
+ Demonstrate proficiency and professionalism in the responsibilities of the role.
+ Understanding of building construction techniques.
+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database applications; REVIT and NBS Chorus experience is desirable.
+ Ability to understand and work to and agreed scope and project budget.
+ Flexible attitude to new ways and methods of working.
+ Knowledge and understanding of UK Construction procurement methodologies and how these relate to Specification Documentation.
+ Ambitious and enthusiastic.
+ Good understanding of BIM and new digital ways of working.
+ Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
+ Ability to build good relationships at all levels.
+ Punctual and reliable.
+ Ability to take the initiative in response to direction/ instructions and demonstrate a pro-active approach to daily tasks
+ Strong numerate skills
+ Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work
+ Ability to prioritise and manage workload under direction
