Role Description - Summary:
The Project Manager / Scrum Master is responsible and accountable for the delivery of agreed project outputs to the agreed time, cost and quality parameters within the agreed scope within Archiving programme. The Project Manager / Scrum Master will manage and coordinate the activity of specialists, technicians and analysts to ensure that tasks are performed that result in the project deliverable.
This role will sit within Technology, Data and Innovation and more specifically the Corporate Functions Archiving programme team supporting Compliance Archiving requirements.
- Help the team to embrace SAFe and Agile Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe and Agile Principles, implement SAFe and Agile practices
- Leads team efforts in relentless improvement, help the team improve and take responsibility for their actions; facilitates the team retrospective. Teach problem-solving techniques and helps the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.
- Facilitate the team’s progress toward team goals, is a team facilitator and is continuously engaged in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. Help the team focus on creating increments of value each iteration and achieving daily and Iteration Goals in the context of the current Program Increment (PI) Objectives.
- Ensure project / programme increments are planned in a manner that delivers to the required cost, quality and within the agreed scope
- Ensure the project / feature team is resourced appropriately
- Ensure the delivery is executed and implemented according to the plan or any agreed changes to the plan and according to agreed project management standards
- Support the team rules, the rules of an Agile Team are lightweight, but they are rules nonetheless, and the role is responsible for reinforcing them
- Ensure relevant and appropriate analysis, management information, and reporting is provided
- Ensure that requirements, plans, risks, issues, actions, costs, schedules, benefits, and other related project or delivery related artefacts are documented and tracked and other relevant document standards
- Ensure that appropriate meetings are held and that outputs and artefacts are produced and distributed. Chair the relevant meetings
- Facilitate team events, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective ensures they are productive and kept within the timebox
- Utilize the relevant governance bodies / steering committees for the purpose they are established
- Facilitate the removal of impediments - supports the team in addressing and eliminating these issues to improve the likelihood of achieving the objectives of the Iteration
- Ensure project stakeholder awareness, engagement and communication
- Where applicable provide other relevant support as required by the programme manager / release train engineer
- Supports the Product Owner, help the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.
- Promote SAFe and Agile quality practices, SAFe provides guidance to assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD). The Scrum Master helps foster the culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship that is the hallmark of effective Agile teams.
- Builds a high-performing team, focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance, and coaches the team in self-management. Helps the team resolve interpersonal conflicts and challenges, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Ensure the project closes according to required procedures
- Ensure projects are compliant to the Programme Governance Framework
- Exhibits Lean-Agile leadership and behaviors with a Lean-Agile Mindset.
- Experience as a Scrum Master and Project Manager
- Demonstrable experience in leading projects to successful conclusions
- Experience in developing and tracking financial business cases
- Relevant experience working in the Financial Services industry
- Proven ability to effectively assess and mitigate project risks and dependencies
- Experienced in effectively communicating with and positively influencing project stakeholders and team members
- Appropriate domain expertise, with some experience in the following areas is required:
o Messaging Compliance Archives e.g. Micro Focus Digital Safe / Smarsh
o Data Protection
o Relevant regulatory knowledge
o eDiscovery and Chain of custody standards
