Job description

Location: Saint Ives, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Job Title: Scientist, Assay Development (Full-Time).

Company: Fuse is a diagnostics start-up company focused on enabling better decisions by delivering lab quality information wherever it is needed. Through its breakthrough product innovation, Fuse has overcome the cost and performance challenges of established technologies to make accurate, point-of-need testing a reality for all.

Fuse was founded by the team that developed the World’s first rapid instrument-free molecular test during the pandemic and is leveraging their experience, knowledge and network to deliver innovative, ultra-rapid, low-cost products that meet the needs of customers across industry. The company is currently expanding after raising seed finance and consequently has an opportunity for an ambitious scientist to join the company as a key member of the founding team.

Fuse has a culture of fairness, positivity and innovation. As a small but rapidly growing entity the company is non-hierarchical and operates as a meritocracy whereby effort and achievement will always be recognised and rewarded. The rapidly growing nature of the business will ensure multiple career development opportunities.

The Role and Responsibilities: This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to join an innovative diagnostics start-up company at the outset and shape its development and growth. Working in close collaboration with other molecular scientists, as well as the engineering and manufacturing teams in a multidisciplinary environment, the successful candidate will perform a crucial role in the development of groundbreaking diagnostic products and influence the overall success of the organisation. The candidate is expected to contribute at each stage of product realisation, including assay design, experimental screening, optimisation and transfer to manufacture, across multiple projects.

Applicant: Candidates are expected to have a scientific degree relevant to the role in addition to laboratory experience in the diagnostics industry. The role offers significant opportunities for growth and development of scientific, laboratory and personal skills. This role will suit a candidate who is self-motivated to deliver milestones and has the confidence to get things done in a robust, direct and innovative way. More broadly, we are looking for a team player with the initiative, flexibility, drive and enthusiasm to make a difference, to achieve goals and exceed expectations in a dynamic start-up environment.

To Apply: Please send your CV via email. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Applications from recruitment consultants will not be accepted.

Closing Date: 29th September 2023.

Package: Competitive package (including share options).
