School Bus Drivers
This professional bus driving opportunity primarily consists of transporting students to and from school.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking for part-time and for those who prefer to work short shifts in the morning and in the afternoon. Extra hours are also available to transport students and staff on occasional field studies.
School Bus Drivers will be working on call throughout the district and will also have the ability to apply on posted vacancies.
Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23), Kelowna BC, provides education services to over 23,000 students in the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, Lake Country and the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
Applicants must have:
Completed Grade 10;
A valid Class 1 or 2 B.C. Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement or
A class 5 License with a Class 2 Learners and Air Brake Endorsement
A clear Driver's Abstract.
Applicants will be expected to:
Possess the physical condition and health to carry out the required duties of this position in a safe and efficient manner;
Maintain a high standard of safety; and excellent interpersonal skills, particularly with students;
Satisfactorily complete the District's School Bus Driver Training Program to assuming the position;
Complete a criminal record check.
The hourly wage for this position is $29.41/Hr. School Bus Drivers working on call, will get 4% of bi-weekly earnings in lieu of vacation and 4.6% of straight time earnings in each pay period in lieu of statutory holidays.
After successfully completing a probationary period and attaining seniority, School Bus Drivers working on call will receive $1.50 per hour in lieu of benefits when working 20 hours or more per week.
School Bus Driver working in a permanent position will be eligible to enroll in a benefits package and pension plan and will qualify for paid leaves, including short term and long term disability.
