Job Summary and Qualifications
- 1 Phoned and/or faxed requests processed in a prompt and timely manner within 1-3 minutes. Difficult and
interdepartmental scheduling with no longer than a 10-minute customer delay.
- 2 Schedules surgical or other related patient procedures in a prompt, courteous manner.
- 3 Schedules patients accurately according to hospital OR schedules, physician block time, queries and/or scripts.
Confirms information with caller prior to closure on the phone
- 4 Establishes and maintains a positive, cooperative working relationship with medical office staff and hospital
surgical and other ancillary departments while keeping phone calls concise.
- 5 Correctly utilizes the scheduling features in the Meditech system and accurately enters necessary information.
- 6 Establishes and maintains a working knowledge and medical terminology vocabulary related to procedures
scheduled.
- 7 Demonstrates the willingness and ability to schedule for meeting rooms, employee health and perform physician referral functions as need arises.
- 8 Communicates changes in schedule according to department guidelines.
- 9 Assists with orientation of new employees as needed and serves as resource within the department.
What qualifications you will need:
EXPERIENCE
Required – Hospital experience and medical terminology
Preferred – Previous experience as a unit secretary
EDUCATION
Required – High School graduate
Preferred – Certification as a medical scheduler
Hours: Full time, day shift
