The role:
This is your chance to join a small charity making a big difference in Bwaise, Uganda. We’re looking for a social media strategist to help boost our digital content and online fundraising campaigns.
This is a hands-on role, so you will be helping to set out our overall social media plan (working with our Marketing Manager), post content to Twitter, Linked in, Facebook and Instagram and come up with exciting new ways to tell our story and generate online donations.
This role is a vital part of our work at AFFCAD UK and the engagement, shares and online activity you generate will contribute to the success of our projects in Uganda and the growth of our charity.
What the role involves:
- Play a key role in developing strategic vision for our social media
- Grow our online presence and community with a focus on engagement and donations
- Plan and set up paid social media ads
- Post regular Facebook content
- Manage Twitter, Facebook, Linked in and Instagram profiles
- Work with our UK and UG teams to generate original content (like GIFs, videos, stories, posts)
Your experience:
We encourage people with all sorts of backgrounds and experience to apply. You should have a flair for writing great content, some experience with social media/digital marketing and be energised by working as part of a small team. Any fundraising or design skills are a bonus, but not required.

A bit about us:
AFFCAD UK is a grassroots charity supporting projects focused on youth empowerment, education, health in Bwaise, Uganda. We work in partnership with AFFCAD Uganda to identify needs and deliver relevant programmes in the local community. We are run by a team of part-time volunteers with a full-time love for what we do.
We’re a great bunch of people to work alongside; everyone has great enthusiasm for our work and programmes and together we pull off ambitious projects like rebuilding Excel Primary School. You’ll be asked to contribute ideas from the get-go and will see how the work you’re doing feeds into our work in Uganda.
