We are looking for an Outgoing Gallery Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, helping to maintain the gallery's visual appearance, and ensuring that all artwork is properly displayed and catalogued. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for art. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and help to create a unique and memorable experience for our customers.
The role requires an upbeat personality, with a resourceful and flexible attitude. The ideal candidate will be friendly with customers, able to talk about art in detail and able to sell, wrap & pack art.
Occasional Preview Nights & Gallery hanging… you must be equally happy up a ladder rehanging paintings, as pouring prosecco!
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and orderly gallery space.
- Assist customers with inquiries and provide advice on artwork selection.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors and patrons of the gallery.
- Manage the inventory of artwork and supplies in the gallery.
- Maintain records of artwork stock.
- Process sales via Shopify computer system with the POS chip&pin system.
- Ensure compliance with gallery policies and procedures.
- Restocking and rehanging artwork when a painting sells, you will need to be confident using a ladder.
- Wrapping artwork (prints, paintings & small items).
- Running occasional errands - post office etc.
- Helping with physical installation of exhibits, which may include some lifting and basic DIY
- Occasional evening work for a Preview Night or Special Event - which are approx every 6 weeks, usually on a Friday evening.
Core days: Sundays & Mondays 11-5
And additional days working to cover staff for holiday cover during school holidays.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 12-18 per week
Salary: £10.55-£11.00 per hour
